Let's face it, the month of January is one of the hardest of months - but Blue Monday is behind us! I’m sure many of us are still attempting to push ourselves to the absolute limit by sticking to our New Years resolutions, from some strange diet and meal plans, juice cleanses or even promising yourself, that you'll finally do thatone thing that you forgot to do that one time…
Whatever the case may be, I'm sure you have been working exceptionally hard, and so have the students of Le Cheile Secondary School. Every single person who chose to do Transition Year, has been singing, dancing and rehearsing like crazy over the past couple of months, in order to bring you, a potential audience member, an unforgettable performance! Everybody who knows Queen, adores Queen. Fact. Although you've heard “We Will Rock You” about a million times, you simply can’t resist the urge to transform into a professional rockstar while belting out the chorus or showing off your dance moves to “Don't Stop Me Now”. There's so many people who can relate to the paragraph that you just read, which is why tickets to this show are selling out, fast. If you've ever wanted a live-performance of your favourite Queen hits, then you're in luck. The musical, that goes by the name of “We Will Rock You” is in town. The students of Le Chéile Secondary School are going staging the show of the decade, a show that resembles a live rock concert. This the first EVER musical staged at the 4 year old Catholic secondary school set up by the Le Chéile Trust. The show takes place approximately 300 years into the future, where the company “Global Soft” has taken over the world. The extravagant businesswoman, known as “Killer Queen” is the head of this company, and has ordered that only digitally produced music is allowed, and all live music has been outlawed. However, where there is a dictatorial leader, there will always be a rebel. In this case, it is a group of teens called the “Bohemians”, who attempt to rediscover the music of the past. This causes friction between the two parties involved, which can be seen played out on the stage in an intense, thrilling and ridiculously entertaining performance, which is guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat, as you wait for a series of truly unpredictable events to unfold. Le Chéile TY’s debut production of We Will Rock You is in town for 3 days, and 3 days only! Wednesday 24th, Thursday 25th & Friday 26th January 2018. Doors are open from 19:00, the show itself begins at 19:30. Tickets are only €10 per person - more information & tickets are available at www.lecheilety.com/musical or the TICKETS button below... Remaining tickets, if any, will be sold at the door. The show is at Le Chéile Secondary School, Hollystown Road, Tyrrelstown, Dublin 15. Written by: Nina C. A huge congratulations to Kelvin Tobun and Terry Jones from TY who represented the school so well at the BT Young Scientists Exhibition in the RDS last week. They were excellent ambassadors for Le Chéile Secondary School and we are so proud of them both. They presented their scientific research on the effect of distractions on concentration - music, chewing gum and of course, fidget spinners!!! They appeared on the RTÉ news a number of times and they were featured in the Irish Independent and the Evening Herald newspapers. They presented their project to the Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, their families, schoolmates and a very interested public! Well done again to Terry and Kelvin... AND Dr. Finnegan, their wonderful TY Science Teacher & Mentor! TYs are in intensive rehearsal currently in preparation for the first every Le Cheile TY Musical. YOU are invited - tickets on sale in school (at office and from TYs). Show starts at 19:30 each night from Wed 24th - Fri 26th Jan 2018!!
